NOVA'S GUIDE TO PRAGUE

 Cover image

Summer is a perfect time to go on holiday or even better – go to conferences. We are going with the latter option and joining TES Prague conference from the 22nd until the 25th of August 2022! It’s a perfect opportunity to catch up with your affiliate or account managers and expand your network in the industry. And what better place to do it than in the city of beer? It’s a win-win situation.

We heard you’re joining as well – nice, good for you! So this time again, we wanted to make sure you get some restaurant, bar, and club recommendations from the people who know Prague best. That’s why we reached out to two of our most trusted partners in the industry that just so happen to know Prague like the palm of their hand. They were willing to expose all the secrets this city has to offer and we are sharing them with you.

PRAGUE’S BEST AREAS TO STAY IN:

Karlin
A formal industrial area that has now been transformed into a very vibrant neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, wine bars and galleries. Surprisingly not that touristy, so it’s a nice option if you want to experience the city from a local’s perspective.

Letna
Located between the two parks, this area offers a nice escape from the historical center, while still remaining close by. It has a more hipster vibe to it so there are always enough things to do around there.

Prague 1
Why not just stay in the center? The city’s architecture is absolutely magical.

BEST WAY OF TRANSPORT:

Walking
If you are heading to explore the old town of Prague, the best way is to walk. The area is small so you’ll be able to see all the main sightseeing within a few hours on foot.

Taxi App: Liftago / Bolt / Uber
If you’re not excited about walking in the summer heat, then your second best option is one of the well-known taxi apps like; Uber, Bolt, or Liftago. There is non-stop competition going on between the applications, so prices can change depending on promotions from the different companies. It is worth it to check multiple apps, to find a ride fast and receive a better rate.

Taxi
This one is a classic - It’s cheap and fast. However, our two locals told us to be careful about the taxi scams. Try not to take a ride from the street of the city center and please don’t sit in one that has a “fake taxi” sticker on it.

Public Transport
There’s always public transport you can take. They say that in Prague, it should always be on time.

BAR’S OF PRAGUE:

La Valmont
Little Paris inside of the Prague Old Town. It’s a full on experience to be there. Best tip would be to simply enjoy the cocktails and the entertainment this place has to offer.

Lokál Dlouhááá
A Czech pub with classic wooden benches and an industrial interior that creates a very traditional atmosphere. Apparently, they serve the best beer in the world – And here’s a tip for you: order “milko” which translates to ‘milk’ and see what happens.

Bugsy's bar
Although small in size, this place serves a huge variety of cocktails and whiskey selections. If you’re into champagne, then this is definitely the place you want to visit.

Absintherie
The name pretty much says it all. They have absinthe. It’s located in the old town neighborhood of Prague and our source tells us to order the ‘order fountain’ as it is the best way to learn how to drink this legendary drink.

Craft House Prague
This bar is a classic beer place that serves around 27 different beers on tap. Definitely, a nice place to relax after the conference.

the Alchemist Bar
If you are into cocktails in a nice, unique ambiance then you should try the Alchemist bar. Its located in the Old town neighborhood of the city and is considered one of the must-go places in Prague.

BEST COFFEE IN TOWN

EMA espresso bar
Coffee heaven for coffee lovers. With several locations throughout the city, this is a perfect place to get your daily dose of caffeine.

Eska
Eska is considered one of the hot spots on the culinary map of Prague as it was awarded a Michelin star. The interior still resembles what used to serve as an old fabric factory, which only adds to the dining experience. Our sources recommended it for its great coffee and freshly baked goods from their bakery.

Mezi Srnky
A perfect place for a brunch – they serve a big variety of hearty breakfasts and on top of that, they serve their ‘home-made’ cakes. Not a bad start to your day!

Sweet and Papper Days
This bistro offers a huge variety of sweet, sour and salty dishes. On top of that, they change the menu every week, so there's no way you can get tired of this place.

SmetanaQ Café and Bistro
Breakfast, desserts, waffles. They have it all. Most importantly, this place serves vegan options as well, which in Prague is really tough to find.

Cukrárna Myšák
If you’re into sweet breakfasts, stop by Cukrarna Mysak and get a hold of one of the best pastries in Prague!

BEST DINNER PLACES

Pork's
Fun fact: pork knuckles are a thing in the Czech Republic! It would be a shame not to try this specialty in one of the places that prepare them best. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to order a nice glass of beer, it’s a perfect combination.

Kuchyň
When you walk around to do your sightseeing and you’re on your to the castle, Kuchyn is a great place to stop at. They serve really good authentic Czech food but if you’re not feeling hungry, at least stop there for a nice cold glass of beer. The view is absolutely amazing.

ZEM
Modern, elegant, and one of a kind. If you’re a foodie then this place is a must!

Pocha
On a different note, Pocha might not be the fanciest place in Prague but it is still a great place to visit. They serve amazing Korean food and you’ll want to try out everything on the menu. Pro tip: Be hungry when you get there!
